Functional OS Assessment
A Functional OS Assessment examines the systems, information and practices a business function can reliably provide. In iBD, separate assessments cover Sustainable Financials, Predictable Revenue and Transferable Margins.
Each assessment contains 27 items rated from 0 to 3, with a possible total of 81 when every item is assessed. Use the full item’s descriptions and evidence requirements; the one-page sheet records the answers. Keep the assessment edition, date, scope, reviewer and supporting evidence together. Leave unreviewed items visibly unresolved rather than presenting an incomplete review as a complete total.
Assess the function before assigning a remedy
For example, a company may lack a supported revenue forecast because its customer records and stages are inconsistent. That is a gap in the function. A capable new revenue leader may be able to fix it, but their appointment alone does not make the forecast dependable.
The Leadership Readiness Assessment asks a separate question: what can the person demonstrate? A functioning process can rely on an outside specialist, while the internal leader still needs practice. Use both assessments to identify the real work, support and responsibility required.
The diagnostic total is separate from the milestone’s 0–3 score and your Velocity Score. It does not automatically determine a hire, promotion, dismissal or staffing priority.
Turn an observed gap into work
The expectations discussion explains how to discuss the evidence with a leader. Choose the gap that matters for the company plan, agree on the work and review the result. Keep the current assessment in Your Leadership Team and use dated reviews to show what changed. The applicable full assessment controls its individual evidence requirements.
