Monthly Owner’s Package

Definition

The Monthly Owner’s Package is the standardized financial report delivered by the CFO within 10 business days of month-end. It is designed for how owners think — in terms of cash, trade-offs, and forward trajectory — not for compliance or tax filing.

A complete Monthly Owner’s Package includes:

  • Three financial statements — Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow — with month-over-month and year-over-year comparisons
  • TTM views — Trailing twelve months for EBITDA, gross margin, revenue, and key cost categories (cuts through monthly noise to show trend)
  • Budget vs. Actual — Variance analysis across all three statements showing where performance is on plan and where it’s drifting
  • KPI dashboard — Gross margin percentage, EBITDA margin, DSO, DPO, DIO, Cash Conversion Cycle, and any industry-specific operational metrics
  • CFO highlight memo — A one-page narrative covering the 5–10 most important things the owner needs to know: what moved, what’s at risk, and what decisions are coming

Why This Matters for Owners

The Monthly Owner’s Package is the instrument panel for the Monthly Ownership Meeting™. Without it, the meeting has no financial backbone — it devolves into anecdotes and opinions instead of data-driven decisions.

This package is not the same as what the bookkeeper produces or what the CPA needs for taxes. It’s purpose-built for the ownership seat. If the owner’s CFO can’t deliver this package on cadence, they have a bookkeeper with a fancy title — not a CFO. That’s not a knock; it’s a signal that the financial infrastructure needs to match the ownership decisions being made.
