The iBD Ownership OS™

Definition

The iBD Ownership OS™ is a structured decision-making framework that helps owner-operators transform their business from a job into an asset that supports their life — whether they choose to keep it, scale it, or sell it. It is organized into three phases (Plan, Build, Elevate), nine modules, and twenty-seven milestones.

The OS is not a course, a playbook, or a set of best practices. It is an operating system — a repeatable structure for making ownership decisions with clarity, based on real numbers, against a defined destination.

Why This Matters for Owners

Most owners have never separated their ownership role from their operator role. They make capital allocation decisions by gut feel, measure success by revenue instead of equity growth, and comingle salary and distributions until the lines between personal income and business performance are invisible.

The Ownership OS installs the thinking, the tools, and the cadence required to operate as a true owner — someone who drives strategy from the boardroom, evaluates the business through the Three Lenses of Value, and makes intentional decisions about time, cash flow, and wealth.

The Structure

Phase 1 — Plan: Define ownership goals, understand how value is created and measured, and install the governance system. Modules: Ownership Goals, Expand Knowledge, Owner’s Playbook.

Phase 2 — Build: Strengthen the financial infrastructure, revenue systems, and margins so the business reliably converts performance into cash flow and enterprise value. Modules: Sustainable Financials, Predictable Revenue, Transferable Margins.

Phase 3 — Elevate: Install the leadership team, align incentives, and complete the operator transition so the business performs without depending on the owner. Modules: Leadership Team, Executive Compensation, Operator Transition.

The owner’s progress through the OS is measured by the Velocity Score™, and the path is guided by the Owner’s Roadmap™. The destination is Independence Escape Velocity™ — the point where time, cash flow, and wealth are no longer dependent on the owner’s operational involvement.
