Find out where you actually are.
Try to take two weeks off. Phone off. Email closed. No texts from the office.
If you can picture what would break, you are already where most owner-operators are. The business needs you. Specific decisions wait for you. A handful of customers will only talk to you. Tribal knowledge lives in your head. Money does not move without your nod.
It looks like you built a successful business. From the inside, it feels closer to a job you cannot quit.
Here’s where you are in the iBD path:
You cannot see the way out because you have never measured the right things
Revenue. Bank balance. Whether the year felt good. None of that tells you what you actually need to know.
An owner needs visibility on three things. How your role is changing over time. How your money moves from a salary out of the business to distributions of the business. What the business is worth, and what it will be worth in five years.
None of the standard business operating systems were built to give you that picture. EOS©/Traction, Scaling Up, Great Game of Business. All useful. All written for the operator. None of them score how close you are to actually owning something instead of running it.
What you score yourself against
The iBD Ownership Assessment™ is the self-scoring instrument behind the iBD Ownership OS™. 27 milestones across nine modules across three phases.
| Phase | What it scores |
|---|---|
| Plan for the future | Your Owner’s Scorecard across time, cash flow, and wealth. The valuation literacy that lets you read your own business. The boardroom rhythm that keeps the rest of the OS alive. |
| Build a valuable business | Your financial system, your revenue engine, your operations. The capability to actually close the gap between what the business is worth today and what you need it to be worth. |
| Elevate from operator to owner | Your leadership team, your compensation structure, your formal exit from the operator seat into the boardroom. |
Each milestone has a four-level rubric, scored zero to three. Zero if you have not engaged with the material. One if you have learned it. Two if you are partway built. Three if it is installed and shaping decisions.
You read the rubric. You decide your honest level. You add the scores. The total is your Velocity Score™ out of 81.
The shape of the score tells you the truth. A high number across all nine modules is a business approaching real owner independence. A score that dips on one or two modules tells you where the constraint is. The constraint is where the work goes next.
What you get
Put in your email. Four PDFs land in your inbox.
- The iBD Ownership Assessment™. The full 27-milestone scoring rubric. The same instrument a paying Blueprint member uses on Day 1.
- The Owner’s Scorecard. Your five-year targets for time, cash flow, and wealth. The destination an owner needs before they pick a path.
- The iBD Owner’s Roadmap™. The starter dashboard that tracks your Velocity Score across all nine modules.
- The 90-Day Game Plan. The focus document that turns your Velocity Score into your next One Thing.
The four tools work together. The Assessment scores you. The Scorecard sets the destination. The Roadmap shows you where the constraint is. The Game Plan tells you what to work on this quarter.
A guided start with Kim and Ryan
Kim Clark and Ryan walk you through each of the four tools on a short video. How to fill them out. How to use them against the iBD Ownership OS™ website you are reading right now.
The same way they would walk a paying Blueprint member through Day 1.
Why this is free
The iBD Ownership Assessment™ is the same instrument an owner pays $15,000 for inside the 90-Day Boardroom Blueprint™. What the $15,000 buys is the work of installing it. Group coaching calls with Ryan and Kim. One-on-one private calls. A three-statement financial model and a full valuation. The boardroom rhythm that keeps the OS running once the program ends.
The instrument itself is just a measurement. There is no reason to put a measurement behind a paywall.
The whole site you are reading right now is built on the same idea. Every milestone, every concept, every podcast episode. Free to read. The Assessment plus the OS website is enough material for an owner-operator to start working their own way out of the operator seat, with or without hiring iBD.
Why Ryan built this
Ryan sold his family’s $21M business at 27. He spent the next eleven years figuring out what would have changed the outcome. The Assessment is the front of the framework he wished he had.
Every milestone on it is something he learned the hard way or watched another owner learn the hard way.
Who this is for
Owner-operators of businesses doing $500K to $10M+ in EBITDA. You built it. You run it. You want a clear picture of how to design your way out of the operator seat without giving up the upside.
If you are pre-revenue, the Assessment will not be useful yet. If you are an operator who does not own equity, this is not your tool. If you are an investor looking for portfolio frameworks, this is the wrong room.
If you are the owner-operator who has read the books, run the systems, hired the coaches, and is still working sixty hours a week, this is built for you.
Take the Assessment
You will get the four PDFs in your inbox within a few minutes, along with the link to the walkthrough video with Kim and Ryan. About an hour of honest work after that.
The next time someone asks how the business is doing, you will have a real answer. The next time you think about taking two weeks off, you will know exactly what has to be true for the answer to be yes.
