Drive Strategy from the Boardroom
You have the goals. You have the valuation literacy. You understand the gap between where you are and where you want to be.
Now what?
Most owners leave a planning session feeling clear and motivated. Two weeks later they are back in the weeds, making reactive decisions, and the clarity fades. Not because the goals were wrong. Because there was no system to translate goals into a repeatable decision-making rhythm.
Module 3 installs that system. This is where the Ownership Operating System becomes operational. It is the governance layer that turns ownership goals into quarterly strategy, monthly visibility, and annual recalibration.
Where Module 3 Fits
Module 3 is the final module of Phase 1: Plan. Module 1 defined what winning looks like. Module 2 taught you how value works. Module 3 installs the playbook that governs how you make decisions going forward.
This module is different from the other eight. Modules 1 and 2 build knowledge. Modules 4 through 9 build capability. Module 3 builds the operating rhythm that everything else plugs into. The Monthly Ownership Meeting™, the Quarterly Boardroom Rhythm™, the Annual Owner’s Reset, and the 90-Day Game Plan™ are all installed here. Every tool, every assessment, and every scorecard from every other module eventually connects to the cadence built in Module 3.
When Phase 1 is complete, you have the full ownership operating system installed: goals, knowledge, and governance. Phase 2: Build builds the financial, revenue, and operational capability to close the gap. Phase 3: Elevate builds the team and transitions the owner into the boardroom.
What Module 3 Installs
Milestone 7: Value Growth Plan. Build the strategic bridge between your Owner’s Scorecard™ and the business. You define your iBD North Star™ (the 3-5 year destination for revenue, EBITDA, valuation, and owner’s role). You complete the Owner’s Roadmap™ with your current Velocity Score™ across all 9 modules. You identify the single biggest constraint and build your first 90-Day Game Plan™. This is not a business plan. It is an ownership plan that tells you what to work on next and why.
Milestone 8: Quarterly Boardroom Rhythm. Install the Quarterly Boardroom Meeting with a three-act structure: Owner Governance with the CFO, Leadership Accountability with the full team, Owner Debrief with the CEO only. Then install the Annual Owner’s Reset where you recalibrate your North Star, rescore the Velocity Score™, lock the annual budget, and reset the leadership and compensation plans.
Milestone 9: Monthly Ownership Meetings. Install the Monthly Ownership Meeting™ as the early warning system. 90 minutes, owner + CFO + CEO only. Three sections: financial signals, 90-Day Game Plan™ momentum, and ownership confidence. When it is working, it catches problems 30 days before they show up on the P&L.
The Tool Stack
Module 3 produces the governance system you run for the life of the business.
| Tool | What It Does | When You Use It |
|---|---|---|
| Value Growth Plan™ | The strategic bridge between personal ownership goals and business priorities. Contains the North Star, Roadmap, assessment, and 90-Day Game Plan. | Reviewed quarterly. Rebuilt annually. |
| iBD North Star™ | One-page declaration: revenue target, EBITDA target, valuation target, owner’s role, timeline. | Set once. Refreshed annually during the Annual Owner’s Reset. |
| Owner’s Roadmap™ | Maps current state to future state across all 9 modules with the Velocity Score™. Shows where the gaps are and what to work on next. | Updated quarterly. Drives the 90-Day Game Plan. |
| 90-Day Game Plan™ | The single most important constraint to resolve in the next 90 days. One thing. Not ten. | Built every quarter in the Boardroom Meeting. |
| Quarterly Boardroom Agenda | Three-act structure: Owner Governance + Leadership Accountability + Owner Debrief. | Run quarterly. |
| Monthly Ownership Meeting Agenda | Financial signals, Game Plan momentum, ownership confidence, decisions. The early warning system. | Run monthly. |
| Annual Owner’s Reset Agenda | Full-day recalibration: refresh North Star, rescore Velocity Score, lock budget, reset leadership and compensation plans. | Run annually. |
How Module 3 Lives in the Ownership Cadence
Module 3 IS the cadence. Every other module produces tools, assessments, and scorecards. Module 3 is where they all come together.
Monthly. The Monthly Ownership Meeting™ reviews the financial model (from Module 4), the revenue KPIs (from Module 5), the margin performance (from Module 6), and the leadership development progress (from Module 7). This is the meeting where problems get caught 30 days before they show up on the P&L. As you build your leadership team, your functional leaders present their numbers here. The owner asks questions instead of running the meeting.
Quarterly. The Quarterly Boardroom Meeting reviews the Owner’s Scorecard™ (from Module 1), updates the Owner’s Roadmap™ and Velocity Score™, assesses the 90-Day Game Plan™, and sets the next 90 days. The Leadership Team Scorecard from Module 7 gets reviewed here. The five-year forecast from Module 4 gets updated here. This is the strategic anchor.
Annually. The Annual Owner’s Reset recalibrates everything. iBD North Star™ refreshed. Velocity Score™ rescored. Budget locked. Leadership and compensation plans reviewed. This is the day the whole system gets realigned.
What You Walk Away With
A living playbook that connects personal ownership goals to business execution through a repeatable rhythm. Not a plan that sits in a drawer. A system that runs monthly, quarterly, and annually.
You know your North Star. You can see exactly where you are on the Owner’s Roadmap™ and what the biggest constraint is right now. You have a 90-Day Game Plan™ that focuses the next quarter on one thing instead of ten. You have meeting structures for the monthly, quarterly, and annual conversations that keep the whole system honest.
Phase 1 is now complete. You have clarity (Module 1), knowledge (Module 2), and a governance system (Module 3). From here, Phase 2: Build builds the financial, revenue, and operational capability to close the gaps the playbook identified.
